Automotive Maintenance Tips
Here are a few basic care and maintenance tips to keep your car running in top-notch condition.
Drive with care everyday.
-Do not race your car's engine during start-up. This is a quick way to add years of wear to your engine, especially if it's cold outside.
-Acccelerate slowly when you begin your drice. The most wear to the engine and drive train occurs in the first ten to twenty minutes of operation.
Every 5,000 miles make sure to rotate your tires.
-Check your tire pressure regularly-once a week is ideal. Also check your tread depth on your tires.
Check your fluid levels.
-This includes your oil level, transmission fluid, washer fluid and also your coolant.
Check battery terminals
-If the battery terminals are not clean, it makes it more difficult for the current to pass around the electrical system. Remove the terminal caps and clean each contact post with a wire brush to get a clean metal contact surface.
-Change your air filter each year or every 12,000-15,000 miles. A clean air filter can help your engine breathe better and improve gas mileage and reduce harmful emissions.
-Replace the fuel filter annualy to help prevent debris from clogging your car's fuel line
It's also very important to keep your vehicle clean, on the outside and also in the interior.
